[Epic War Drums Track ~P~]

Reminds me quite a bit of SpikeVallentine's factory song from Memohuntress. Seems you two share a library or two in common! Some of the high-end [frequency] instruments sound rather thin and darn-near off beat, though I guess it has something to do with the other half of the music that I haven't heard, which was produced by your collaborator.

[BadAssNess (WIP) ~P~]

This tune sounds okay, though I wouldn't quite place it in the category of "badass"...just yet.

I don't own that many fighting games, but I will say that it'd be nice to include elements from the music of fighting (not just versus) games of the SNES and Dreamcast. At this time this song sounds very closely related to your RPG works, than anything else, tbh.

Some songs I'd recommend giving a listen are: "Exciter" from Dead or Alive 2, "Eye to Eye, Blade to Blade" from Soul Calibur, "Avalon Is." from Power Stone, and "Stage 1" from Battletoads Double Dragon

For "Exciter" focus on the electric guitar(s) and the solo breaks. For a tough-guy militaristic style hear the percussion and horns of "Eye to Eye, Blade to Blade". The darkness in tone of "Avalon Is." can also be good in "baddassery" or for a good final fight (take note of that choir,wow), maybe. For a more classic yet awesome feel, take note of the heavy reverb and synthesizer keyboard [solo], as well as the hard bass plucks of Battletoads & Double Dragon first stage. There could be other elements you may want to pick from here, that I haven't listed, and that's fine too.

I think if anything, maybe start out with a strong, cutthroat guitar riff intro, that will give the message that this song's is all about (as Reggie Fils-Aime put it) kicking ass and taking names.

[Hayao the Swordman]

This is an awesome change of pace! This certainly sounds like it has a lot of Far Eastern influence (aside from the theme being based around a Japanese swordsman), which in my opinion makes this tune really stand out amongst the other competitors' work!

I think this song has potential. I'm really sorry that you weren't able to finish the entire thing in time, but from what I'm hearing so far, this has become an easy fav in my books.

Keep it up! I don't know what you use, but I could easily imagine a live orchestra playing this for some sort of production.

[King Samulis]

Really cool stuff, the first minute reminds me a bit of the fanfare associated with Star Wars. "Imperial City" from the Shadows of the Empire OST in particular came to mind in the beginning measures. The remaining 45 secs sound almost foreign, yet fitting with the first minute. The transition really fits well with the last part of the story. A good cliffhanger-like feel.

I like.

Thank you Phyrnna, for making such an awesome teaser. This song has inspired me to make a march remix (one I shared an excerpt of last year, remember?). Of all the teasers I've heard so far, I'm really excited to find out how this one in particular is going to sound in it's full and complete form.

I just shared my remix today; it's blind to whatever the full version of your song will sound like, but it was surely fun working with what was supplied by the teaser alone.

Took me about 80 days. Was so startled by the last screen I accidentally skipped over it, making me redo it in about 30 to see what I missed. A very interesting and filling message.

Sound very strong and energetic. I may suggest adding some more presence to the violins. I'm quite happy to hear what sounds like a more well-rounded rock drum set, than what I normally hear in your works. The keyboard/pad combo is fine as always. Keep doing what you're doing, P!

This tune has potential.

EZDrummer does sound like it is most definitely the "Drumkit From Hell", because it doesn't sound very good next to all the other instruments playing. It sounds like it was very lazily engineered, namely the drum rolling.

My advice would be to use drumkit soundfonts. I have a thread devoted to them in the audio forum.
The orchestra and guitars sound okay, though I think the orchestra could use a little more presence in the mix. I think a bass guitar of sorts could help complement/complete this tune as well.

I don't get why everyone hates EZDrummer so much, I like it, but I'll look into soundfonts anyways.

As I've mentioned before, I still struggle a bit with leveling everything out just right, between when this was posted and when I released the full song on the album, I did do a little bit of tweaking though, which hopefully addressed the issue.

And there is a bass in the finished song, using a synth instead of a guitar however because my bass guitar doesn't like being tuned down, and it needs new strings and I'm too cheap (and broke) to go buy some.

Wow, that was quite an experience.

I think I have an idea how I influenced the song, but not really! It felt good to practically sleep with during the first half, only to jump back to wakefulness when I heard the 2nd part. A real surprise from the initial bass and ghastly ambiance.

Keep up the great work. I should check out Aphex Twin's work, to perhaps get a better idea of who influenced what....
